Memphis FFA Trap Shooters Wrap Up Season With State Championship Win Over Silex
The Scotland County High School Memphis FFA trap teams were in competition on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at Linn Creek at the Missouri Trapshooters Association facility, south of Osage Beach. Six Memphis FFA teams competed in 100 rounds of trap. The Boys A Team made school history and won the Championship state title with a team score of 468/500. The Boys A Team Champs are Junior Hugh Baker (97/100), Junior Corbin Blessing (95/100), Senior Aaron McDaniel (94/100), Sophomore Merit Miller (92/100) and Junior Kallen Hamlin (90/100). The Silex FFA Boys Team also scored a 468/500 to tie with Memphis, but the Memphis team had the longest running streak to break the tie and bring home the First Place title at the state competition. Hugh Baker brought home the state medal for Third Place individual with his 97/100 score. There were 57 High School Boys FFA Teams competing and 15 Girls Teams. Over 500 shooters participated in the state event from Junior High teams to college teams and open class teams.
The Girls A Team brought home the State Third Place trap trophy with a team score of 406/500. The Girls A Team members are Senior Elsie Kigar (92/100), Junior Emma Harvey (88/100), Sophomore Emma Gist (78/100), Junior Kendal Anderson (76/100) and Sophomore Kylie Small (72/100).
The 2022 FFA Trap Shooting season has wrapped up. This year's seniors are: Penelope Cline, Phillip Esser, Elsie Kigar, Aaron McDaniel and Eric Mohr. These seniors will be recognized at Senior Night prior to kick-off at the October 21, 2022, home football game.
