Scotland County R-1 School District to Receive Two Electric School Buses from Lion Electric
Memphis, Missouri – October 18, 2024 – Scotland County R-1 School District is excited to announce the upcoming delivery of two state-of-the-art electric school buses, each equipped with wheelchair accessibility, from The Lion Electric Company (NYSE: LEV) (TSX: LEV) (“Lion”), a leading manufacturer of all-electric medium and heavy-duty urban vehicles.
"We’re thrilled to partner with Lion to offer safe and efficient transportation for our students," said Ryan Bergeson, Superintendent of Scotland County R-1 School District. "We are excited about adding two brand new handicapped buses to our fleet that will be fully paid for through this grant opportunity."
These electric school buses, capable of traveling up to 110 miles on a single charge and equipped with specialized wheelchair ramps and securement systems, will provide Scotland County R-1 with an energy-efficient and quiet alternative to traditional buses.
The electric school buses are scheduled to arrive in Summer 2025. The district plans to showcase the buses to the public upon their arrival next year, highlighting their innovative features.
The acquisition of these buses was made possible through the EPA’s Clean School Bus 2023 Rebate Program, which supports school districts across the country in transitioning to clean, zero-emission transportation.
