Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Scotland County R-1 Elementary School.  We provide our students with positive experiences to help them develop academically, intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically.  Our faculty makes decisions by keeping in mind what is in the best interest for our children.  We maintain high expectations, nurture high self-esteem, and encourage positive attitudes among students and staff.  The hard work of both our students and staff has been exemplified through the "Distinction of Performance" status that has been awarded to our school for the past five years by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.  Our fifth grade class was recognized in the top ten in the state for student achievement on the MAP assessment for Math in 2007.  The students and staff in grades K-3 were fortunate to have had the opportunities and materials provided through the Reading First Grant from 2004-2009.  According to Dr. Jeri Levesque, ED.D., evaluator for the Reading First Program, when compared to other Reading First schools in Missouri, third grade MAP Communication Arts' mean score was the seventh highest in the state and our AYP on the 2008 MAP was ranked fifth highest by the evaluators.  The sixth grade accepted the "Inspire by Example Service-Learning Award" from the Missouri Service Learning Advisory Council.  Our school was 1 of 9 schools in the state to earn the award.  The Characterplus program is fully embedded in our school atmosphere with the support of our community and parents.

The Scotland County community takes pride in its students and school.  Parents are supportive in maintaining a safe and protective learning environment for our students.  At Scotland County R-1 Elementary, we are providing a sound education to help each student reach their fullest potential.  We are Proud to be Scotland County R-1 Tigers!
